Burpham’s Conservative Campaigner
Christian served as Ward Councillor for Burpham on Guildford Borough Council between May 2011 and May 2019. "Burpham continues to face many challenges in the coming years and I look forward to continuing to assist residents where possible."
The Council is still on course to implement parking restrictions at London Road parade and also on Burpham Lane by the end of November. These changes will go a long way to freeing up parking spaces that are often occupied by persons not patronising the shops. Further information can be found here.

Voters in Guildford have resoundingly rejected a proposal to give the Borough a Directly Elected Mayor. By 81% to 19% the proposal was defeated on Thursday (13th October). This means that the Council will continue to be run using the current Leader and Caninet system.
Full Result:
Keep the current system – 20,639
Directly Elected Mayor – 4,948
(Turnout 25%)
In accordance with the relevant regulations this decision means the system by which Guildford is governed cannot be challenged for 10 years.
On 13th October 2016 voters in Guildford will go to the polls to decide whether or not to change the system by which the Borough is Governed. The choice on offer is between the current ‘strong leader’ model and the directly elected mayor model. I am backing the cross party campaign to retain the current model. The current system is cheaper to administer, better for holding the Leader of the borough to account and retains our current ceremonial Mayor, a role which dates back centuries.
