In 2006 the Conservative Party asked Christian to participate in its Cities Taskforce, headed by former Environment Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Heseltine. Christian headed up the Planning brief of the Taskforce, looking at ways in which the planning system could be changed to encourage faster regeneration within the under performing urban areas.
Christian and the other taskforce members visited a number of urban areas around the country, to learn from professionals who work within the regeneration sector, including Trafford and the docklands area of London.
