New Landmark sign at Burpham Shops

Following a ballot on the design by local residents, a new landmark metal sign has been erected at the parade of shops on London Road. On one side it states ‘Kingpost Parade’ and on the other ‘London Road Parade’, reflecting the different names of the two halves of the shopping parade.

The sign was paid for from S106 developer contributions. The design process was overseen by Guildford Borough Council.

The erection of the new sign follows the resurfacing improvements that were made to the parade last year and the local listing of the Edward VIII pillar box by the Council.

Gas Works impacts are not acceptable

Following complaints from local residents I have been liaising with officers at Surrey County Council over the impact of the ongoing gas works in the Coltsfoot Drive area.

Whilst utility companies can undertake necessary works, they are expected to adhere to certain standards and must restore the affected land to a satisfactory state.

Following my communication, an officer from Surrey County Councillor has now carried out an inspection of these works and filed a report. The relevant standards were not met by Southern Gas networks in this instance. As a result officers will be liaising more closely with the utility company to find a solution to the ongoing problems.
