Burpham Neighbourhood Plan passes examination

The Burpham Neighbourhood Plan, prepared by the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum over the past 3 years, has passed examination.

The examiner, Mr Richard High MRTPI, issued his report this week, recommending some modifications to the plan and that it proceeds to a local referendum of Burpham voters. The report, can be found here on the Burpham pages of Guildford’s website, along with other relevant information.

This is a tremendous achievement by the Forum members on behalf of the people of Burpham. The plan sets out various land use policies such as the designation of Local Green Space, protection for Burpham’s shopping parades and more stringent parking provision requirements for new development.

The Burpham Neighbourhood Plan is the first Neighbourhood Plan in Guildford to reach this advanced stage. When fully adopted the Plan will become part of the Development Plan for Burpham.

Guildford welcomes Armed Forces Day

Guildford hosted Armed Forces Day 2015 today. This important national event was an opportunity for the Borough to show its appreciation for our armed forces. Events included a parade up the high street, with the salute being taken by HRH The Duke of York, and military displays at Stoke Park. It is estimated this free event was enjoyed by approximately 70,000 people.
