Burpham Flood Forum established

Guildford MP Anne Milton has established a new Flood Forum, specifically to deal with flood matters concerning Burpham. The inaugural meeting will take place on Friday 13th February, which I will attend as Ward Member for Burpham, along with officers from the Environment Agency, representatives of local community groups and others. This new Forum will become an important vehicle for driving Burpham flood matters to the top of the agenda.

Tennis Courts Improved

Improvements have been successfully carried out at the tennis courts at Sutherland Memorial Park. The resurfacing works will allow sports fans to further enjoy this already popular facility within Sutherland Memorial Park (Winner of a coveted Green Flag award). These improvements, together with the installation of the nature boardwalks (see story below) are a major enhancement to the leisure facilities on offer in Burpham this summer.

Nature Boardwalk Completed

The new boardwalk through the wetlands in Burpham has been completed. The wooden walkway, including imaginatively designed seating areas reflecting local nature, was designed by Greenspace Designs Ltd. The enhancements have been funded through planning obligations and overseen by Guildford Borough Council.

As summer eventually arrives this development allows people to more fully enjoy this local nature reserve.
