Following a recent car crash, Burpham’s historic Edward VIII pillar box was damaged and uprooted from its position on the London Road parade. Following discussions with the Royal Mail I am delighted the pillar box has been restored in its rightful place, rather than replaced with a new pillar box. The pillar box, which is locally listed, is one of only a handful in the country due to the very short reign of Edward VIII (just nine months) following his decision to abdicate and marry Wallace Simpson.
